Day 1: Tbilisi - David Gareji - Bodbe - Sighnaghi - Tbilisi

In the morning, we will travel towards the semi-desert landscapes of eastern Georgia and visit the remarkable David Gareji Monastery Complex. Founded in the 6th century by one of the thirteen Assyrian monks, this unique cave monastery is one of the country’s most important historical and spiritual monuments. Surrounded by dramatic cliffs and colorful badlands, the complex offers a completely different side of Georgia’s nature and culture.

After exploring David Gareji, we will continue towards the charming hilltop town of Sighnaghi. On the way, we will visit the peaceful Bodbe Monastery, one of Georgia’s most significant religious sites and the burial place of Saint Nino, who brought Christianity to Georgia in the 4th century. The monastery is surrounded by beautiful gardens and overlooks the picturesque Alazani Valley.

We will have lunch in Sighnaghi, often called the “City of Love,” famous for its cobbled streets, colorful balconies, and panoramic views of the Caucasus Mountains. After lunch, we will take a walking excursion through the old town, visit the local wine house, explore the central museum, and enjoy the cozy atmosphere of this romantic Kakhetian town. Throughout the day, we will enjoy stunning views of the Alazani Valley and the Great Caucasus Range.

In the evening, we will drive back to Tbilisi.
